Our AP English Language Preview course is taught just the way an AP or college-level course would be taught. This gives students a valuable headstart on their AP Courses, as well as extra time to adjust to college-level workloads.
Our AP English Language Preview covers the following topics:
- Unit 1 How to identify and analyze the claims in a text and determine whether the writer backs up their assertions with reasoning and evidence.
- Unit 2 How writers organize information and evidence to support a specific argument and appeal to a particular audience.
- Unit 3 The range of perspectives around a topic and how various arguments can relate and respond to one another.
- Unit 4 How a writer makes choices about methods of developing arguments, introductions, and conclusions.
- Unit 5 The very specific and minute choices a writer makes to bring all the parts of an argument together.
- Unit 6 The difference between position and perspective, how to consider bias, and how to integrate and address multiple perspectives in an argument.
- Unit 7 The breadth and complexity of arguments around a topic and what makes each successful or unsuccessful.
- Unit 8 Stylistic choices a writer can make and how those choices affect an argument.
- Unit 9 Using a wide range of perspectives to develop a complex argument.
Being able to cover these concepts gives students extra time and early exposure to particularly difficult AP-level concepts. You can bet that this will give Excel students an edge when it comes to AP Exams!

Our AP Preview Courses are only available during the summer. We recommend you take these Preview courses the summer before your actual AP Course.
